What is Magnet PCTV and how does it work?

Magnet PCTV is TV that comes through your broadband connection rather than a conventional aerial, satellite dish or cable. So rather than watching TV on a normal TV screen you watch it on your PC or Laptop! This service is not meant as a replacement for your normal TV but it may reduce the number of arguments over what to watch on TV.

When you’re connected to Magnet broadband and the software is running (downloading the software is simple) you can choose from a whole range of TV channels, including; RTE1, RTE2, TV3, 3e, MTV and TG4. We will be introducing more channels in the future but as these channels are six of the most popular channels in Ireland you should be able to catch up on the football or latest music while others in the home watch the soaps on the main TV!

PCTV over Wifi connections

Please note that there may be problems using Magnet’s PCTV service over a standard Wifi connection. This issue is related to the distribution of TV signals over wifi connections which can be unreliable due to signal interference.Magnet recommend that customers intending to avail of the PCTV service using wifi throughout their home should add the optional Multi Media wifi device to their order.
